How To Focus On Homework When Sick: Best Advice Ever

It is challenging enough trying to focus on homework tasks when you are well, but trying to focus when you are sick, is going to be a struggle. It also depends on the illness that you have, if it is a cold or flu then you may be able defer for a day or so.

Unless you have a chronic ongoing illness, it is difficult to plan for an unexpected illness. The best advice is to always try to keep your notes up to date, and attend all of your classes. This way if you are sick then it will not be so difficult to catch up.

  1. 1. If at all possible put off doing your homework until you feel better. In most cases though this may not work. Ideally you need to produce work that two weeks down the line you don’t look back and say “I can’t believe that I wrote that!”
  2. 2. Try to buy yourself a bit of time, ask your tutor (by email, text or phone) if they are able to extend your deadline for submission. This may not be their decision to make especially if the work to be handed in is for external marking.
  3. 3. If you are on medication, you may find that sometimes you feel more able to work than other times. Make good use of the time when you feel more able and focus on planning your work, and making notes.
  4. 4. Engage the help of a friend. If you have already completed most of the planning they may be able to help you by completing the work for you. When they have completed the work, you can then read through it and make any changes that you need.
  5. 5. You could checkout some of the academic writing agencies, they may have some examples that you could adapt for your own work, or just help by giving you some inspiration.
  6. 6. There is always the choice of using the writing agency to write you work for you. This may be costly, but you will be able to hand in a suitable piece of work. Make sure that you check out the agency before parting with your money.

Whichever option you choose make sure that it is the one that will work best for you, and causes you the least amount of stress.
